立春Born in January or February 1940?
In the popular calendar, the 1940 zodiac year began with Chinese New Year on February 8, 1940. Anyone born from January 1 to February 7, 1940 belongs to the previous year, the Earth Rabbit. BaZi (Four Pillars) astrology changes the year at Lichun, the start of spring, which fell on February 5, 1940 at about 06:58 Beijing time. That was before New Year, so if you were born after Lichun on February 5 and before February 8, 1940, BaZi already counts you as a Metal Dragon while the popular calendar still says Earth Rabbit.
